Ladder feet are the contact points between the ladder and the ground. Most feet are made of rubber, durable composites, plastic, and aluminum. Feet are also called shoes.
The feet of ladders vary by ladder model, manufacturer and type though the design is very similar across brands. Extension ladders have a joint on the feet that allows the feet to remain flat on the ground when the ladder is leaning against structures at different angles. The feet of stepladders and stepstools are usually fixed since the ladders make contact with the ground at the same angle. The bottom of most feet is rubber though some feature metal spikes or other parts to work on grass, dirt or rocks.
