Known for revolutionizing the ladder industry, Little Giant Ladder created its original multi-purpose ladder in 1972.
Hal Wing created and innovated the Little Giant Ladder System which is a multi-purpose ladder that has been dubbed the “Swiss Army Knife of Ladders.” It converts into five different types of ladder configurations including A-frame, extension, staircase, 90-degree, and a scaffolding system. Depending on the model selected, it can be converted between 16-43 different unique ladder configurations.
The original Little Giant Ladder was inspired by a prototype Wing saw while living in Germany in the early 1970’s. After working out a licensing agreement with the original inventor, he officially started Wing Enterprises out of his garage in the United States. After filing a patent on this new style of ladder, Little Giant Ladders was born. Wing manufactured all of the ladders out of his garage with the help of his wife and seven children.
In his first year, he sold over a half million dollars by traveling and demonstrating his innovative ladder at state fairs and trade shows across the United States. It wasn’t uncommon for him to spend 300 days a year on the road going from city to city demonstrating the Little Giant.
After launching an infomercial featuring Hal Wing in 2003, the company saw its sales skyrocket. The company has continued to expand rapidly, having received more than 50 patents on safety improvements in climbing equipment design in just the last five years. Boasting features that provide an extra bit of comfort, enhanced safety, and greater security is just one of the reasons why the company has become the success that it is today.
Little Giant Ladders uses duty ratings established by the American National Standards Institute ANSI and is also a member of the American Ladder Institute which specializes in promoting ladder safety.
